QUESTION:
Why am I not hearing the background music when I am playing the game?

ANSWER:
There are a few possibilities that could be causing this. (1) Are your computers speakers pluged in to the computer and turned on? If not, connect them and/or turn them on. (2) Are your computers speakers turned up? If not, turn up the volume. (3) The BG Music option in your games main menu may be turned off. Simply click on the option to turn it back on. (4) You may have turned off all the song selections in the Jukebox menu screen. Either clicking on a few song selections or the 'Default songs' button or the 'All songs active' button should fix this. (5) There may be an audio control located somewhere in Windows that has all the sound or just the midi sounds turned off. Locate the virtual control and turn them on or up. It may be located at the icon on your Taskbar that looks like a yellow cone with three small lines coming out the right side. (6) There is some safety code designed to keep the Jukebox from causing a Stack Overflow Error from happening, if the Random Song Picking routine should miss too many times. It may be kicking in and muting your audio. One way to test this is to go to the Jukebox Menu Screen and click on the 'Random Musical Play' button. If the options flicker with dots all over the place, then stop and a virtual red light illuminates on the face, then this means that the safety code is kicking in. Choose to have more songs playable to lessen the odds of this happening. (In testing, I've seen it take as many as 150 tries to select a single song. However, the safety feature currently allows for 1500 chances. So, this problem should rarely happen.) (7) Some or all of the games midi files may have become lost or corrupted. While this is an extremely rare situation, you can locate replacement files in the 'Etc' section of this web site. There are listings of most of the web sites that host these midi files in there. Downloading a fresh file of the same name and placing said file in the games folder on your computer should fix the problem of a corrupted file. (Make sure the name is exactly the same as the one you are replacing...or it won't play in the game.) (8) None of these other options did the trick? Perhaps, your machine is being finicky with the midi playing routine that the game uses. If so, you will simply have to do without background music. Currently, the game does not support multiple modes for the midi jukebox player. (And there is a good chance that it never will.)

QUESTION:
Can I select my own music choices, instead of the game selecting them for me during game play?

ANSWER:
Yes. Once you press the start button, you can pause the game by clicking on the power switch, which will take you to the Main Menu. From there, go to the Jukebox Menu Screen and pick a song to play by clicking anywhere on the name. Then, exit the Jukebox screen, choose to continue your game...and your selection will play out, then randomly choose another, as usual.

QUESTION:
How do I make cash in this game?

ANSWER:
One way is to win it in a game of luck, that you can buy for a virtual buck at The Mini-Mart.

QUESTION:
I don't like the game's music selection. How can I change them?

ANSWER:
(PLEASE NOTE: This answer assumes that you are familiar with the use of Windows Explorer. IF NOT: Do not try to do this.) While the game currently does not support the addition or alteration of the background music, (This may become a future version feature.) you can change the music selections by obtaining your own midi music files from any location on the net that hosts them, download them into the games folder and rename (It is recommended that you rename the original midi file first. For example: The AfterMidnight music file is named 'midnight.mid'. Renaming it as 'midnight2.mid' will make it easier to restore, if needed.) that downloaded file to the same name as one of the game's original midi names. As long as the name is the same as what the game is looking for, the file will be loaded and play. HOWEVER, IF the midi file you use to replace an original one with has a different amount of time it takes to play, than the jukebox engine will not recognize this and your new song will probably either have a long pause of silence before the next song begins to play or the midi will be stopped too soon and proceed onto another one. (Hince, why keeping the original midi file is a useful option.) Keep in mind that only a true midi file should replace the original midi file. Renaming a wave file with the .mid extension will most likely cause nothing to happen. (However, a strange event or a game/computer crash might occur. Trying such a thing is neither recommended, nor has it been tested for results.)

QUESTION:
There is an MP3 file in the game directory called AudioTrack.mp3. What is it for?

ANSWER:
This is the sound file that supports all the sound effects used in the game. It is recommended that you DO NOT TOUCH THIS. The game engine is keyed to locate certain sections of this sound file for each and every sound effect and section of speech in the game. If you change or alter this file in any way, the game may sound VERY DIFFERENT. The game may even crash if it can't locate certain sections of the stock .MP3 file. However, IF you are an expert at working with audio files and must make it sound as if KITT is farting when Turbo Boost is used or your kid brother saying 'You're dead!' when KITTs laser impacts with another vehicle, doing so is possible with the correct audio programs and precise editing. While doing so is not recommended, it is far from impossible. Currently, this web site does not supply a replacement MP3 file for the sound effects and no testing has been performed to find out what happens to an altered MP3 file.

QUESTION:
There is an MP3 file in the game directory called Knight_Rider-remix_2001.mp3. What is it for?

ANSWER:
This is the credits music. The engine has been keyed to run it during the credits sequence. If, for some reason you do not like the tune, changing the file with another true mp3 file should be OK to do. But, why do it. This tune is good and IT ISN'T MIDI. However, changing this tune has not been tested to see what the results would be. Currently, this web site does not supply a replacement MP3 file for the Knight_Rider-remix_2001.mp3 music file.

QUESTION:
What do I need this vitrual cash for?

ANSWER:
The use for cash in this game has not yet been solved. However, there are lottery-type mini-games that do work with the stuff.

QUESTION:
How do I work with the lottery game Lucky Sand Grains?

ANSWER:
The game was designed to be easy to work with, yet make the player work at making the card win anything, if possible.

IMAGE NOT YET AVAILABLE.

First, walk Michael into a mini-store inside the city. Once in, buy a Lucky Sand Grains lottery ticket.

To play: Take the top numbers and match them to the bottom ones. When you find a match, use either the tab and enter keys or the mouse to click on top of the matching number. Keep doing so until you have found as many matches as possible. (Orange blocks are unpicked. Violet ones have been clicked on. Click on it again to unselect it.)

QUESTION:
What operating systems/consoles can this game be played in?

ANSWER:
Currently, this game is only supported on Windows 95, 98, Me, and maybe a few other Windows OS environments. (Like NT.) By programming in VB, making it Windows compatible is almost guaranteed. Other operating systems like Unix, Linux, the Mac OSes and others probably will not run the game code without some sort of Windows emulator. And, even then...who knows. This game may see the light of day on non-Windows computers, someday. Anything is possible.

QUESTION:
Why was this game made in Visual Basic? Aren't there better programming languages out there to use?

ANSWER:
Simply because I wanted to practice programming in the Visual Basic language before I moved on to anything more complicated. This was basically a school project program that went a little beyond my original expectations. Enjoy.

QUESTION:
Why did I have to pay for this program if it is FreeWare?!?!?!

ANSWER:
(With an exception for the price of obtaining the CD...) YOU PAID FOR THIS PROGRAM!?!?!? FreeWare means FreeWare. The game costs nothing more than your time to download it. This game was made by the so-called "Labor of Love" as a tribute for the series it was based on. And, to whomever is profiting off of my hard work...SHAME ON YOU!!! It wasn't yours to sell, in the first place.

QUESTION:
One of the buttons/functions/etc isn't working like it is suppose to and none of the answers here fit this problem. What is going on?

ANSWER:
Hummmmmm...interesting. This is probably an undiscovered bug. Please report it so that a solution can be worked out, ASAP. Please supply as detailed a description of the bug as possible. (Where were you in the game? What doesn't work? What were the previous steps you took to reach this bug? Things like that.) You can use the 'Report Bug button in the menu at the top of this page to report the bug. Go to the top of the page.

On December 17 of 2001, I ran into my first major program bug. It occurred as I was trying to cause the program to crash by tricking the jukebox into doing a constant loop search while trying to uncheck the only song it could select from, so as to cause an infinite loop. The crash was more serious than I was going for and required a rebooting of the machine. Known solution: Don't do it. To try is an abnormal procedure.
